Certifiably Educated from New York

We have been around the block...more than a few times. New York is a favorite place of ours.

Kelly got his exercise last week and his mind creatively enhanced to continue the education at Phazes in our "Phazes Certification Program."

We know a little about right-brain creativity and left-brain logic, and the art of cutting and coloring hair Grreat takes both! And we take cutting and coloring VERY seriously. Hair is your crowning glory, it is nothing to mess around with. Redken is the professional color line we know we can depend on to give you the results you expect!

Redken was founded in 1960 and revolutionized the healthy care of hair by introducing the concept of using protein to recondition the hair. And one powerful statement stands strong...
"Healthy Hair is IN."
Our hotel was one block from Time Square so we spent some interesting "people watching" and amusing moments there, for New York is quite the melting pot of "Be and Live." We like that.
Live. Laugh. And we Love it when you come visit us as Phazes!

Get Jiggy with It!

Our Wildflower & Weeds boutique is unique. We also have some pretty unique friends that live in Logan who after a tragic event in their lives learned to cope and turned to positive things, like helping others and bee farming.

There is healing power in creativity and each of us can rise above whatever challenges we are given in life.

This past November my father, Vaughn was diagnosed with esophageal cancer that has advanced to stage 4, meaning it has spread throughout his body. He has chosen to fight this disease by way of nature rather than chemotherapy. We are feverishly learning as much as possible about healthy practices, from food, to thought patterns, to exercise and detoxifying our bodies.

We do digest many harmful things in a myriad of ways. Unfortunately we digest all too much that is unhealthy: thoughts, other peoples negative garbage, food, etc...

For my father, as he said "I am fighting for my life now." His choices are already set, he eats a certain way, thinks a certain way, uses naturopathic treatments and faith. He has made drastic changes and he believes he will live!

For those of us that are not so threatened with life or death, we still have choices. Each and every day we have a choice of how we think, what we put into our body, how we treat our bodies and how we treat those we love. It all adds up and makes a difference, to those we love and to the quality of our lives. In the end it really is about quality.

The Shampoo Hose

I'm not sure if the previous post got Kelly all befuddled or what?! At Phazes our guests are our #1 priority and we ALWAYS take the best of care; we dip their hands in paraffin, give complimentary chair massage, complimentary hot cocoa or coffee. It's a really nice place!

Why that darn hose got out of control and totally soaked his lady both startled him and luckily made her laugh hysterically.

I didn't ask...but he may have lost out on his tip?

Funny Ladies Cute Men

Today is President's Day and in honor of our country and the equal rights we share, I must share some funny, albeit possibly harassing elements that my beautiful husband Kelly has undergone over the years being in the beauty business.

No one would argue with me, Kelly is a handsome man, and luckily I have never been a jealous wife, so the stories he shares only make me, and the rest of the staff giggle and even double over in laughter, here are a few...

Here you go, ladies!
Kelly is cutting one of his "regular ladies" (this is the term used when a client comes in on a regular basis) and she pops out with, "I'll pay you extra if you cut my hair with your shirt off." Rather stunned, Kelly did not know what to say, and then she added in explanation, "My husband is coming in and I want to make him jealous."

While washing another ladies hair at the shampoo bowls his client, with full grip, grabs his butt and remarks, "I just couldn't help myself!"

And another remark concerning his cologne, "You smell nummy."

And the number one, inappropriate comment so far from his 27 years "behind the chair," of what we deem interesting, but hilarious comments from our lovely ladies... Kelly asks, "What length are you thinking about going with your haircut today?" She replies and gestures to that area of her anatomy, "I think right about to my nipples." With her low cut blouse, he completed the haircut without a hitch for he is always of the utmost professional and has complete composure. I asked him if he asked her, "if the  length she preferred was with her bra on or off?

Oh dear what an interesting and funny business this has been. So far Kelly has filed no sexual harassment suits.

Go Green~for Health and Happiness

All books in our Wildflowers & Weeds Boutique are 25% off through March...
Microgreens: A Guide to Growing Nutrient-Packed Greens by Eric Franks and Jasmine Richardson, shows readers how to grow their own little greens of arugula, basil, purple cabbage, chard, radishes, broccoli, cilantro, and more.

Microgreens teaches the easy process of how to plant and grow, as well as how to harvest little greens, which on average is about 2 weeks after sowing. Eaten alone, as a salad, or added to soups, entrees, sandwiches, burgers, or anything else, these tiny greens of nutrition will enhance everyday food and life!

Only a small amount of space is needed to grow microgreens—a porch, patio, deck, or balcony, indoors or outdoors, will do. This allows anyone to easily incorporate microgreens into their daily meals, and the greens' nutritional potency make them a must-eat in a healthy diet, any time of the year!
